Lazy summer day

Image
Balmy summer days are here again, Dry and hot, Filled with sweat, And crazy heated hours, Sometimes we can feel like a cob of roasted corn! The chores never ending, Being dragged and toiled, With ease which was done, In the winters gone by! Warm summers breeze, Gently caressing by, Trees brightly coloured, With hues of bright yellow, purple and red, Sweet perfume it begets, Aroma filled air, Puts one in a dizzy and a daze! Sweet chirpings of the magpie, A melody to enjoy, Birds chasing one another, And the bees buzzing by! The sun sets again, Bringing in the cool sea breeze, When friends meet again, Walking with ease! The sky is cast with hues so bright, It's wonderful to see the dusk come by! The night is here, The day is gone, Another day passes, And life goes on! It's nice to feel the familiar, A reason to smile, Days task done, While we wave at the same passers by! A familiar turf, A forlorn feeling, A hope for tomorrow, A renewed life, As days pass one into another, And li...

My secret garden

Image
There's a secret garden I like to go, It's the place I love and adore, Below my house and beneath the road, It lies open untamed and wild. The birds fly freely and in ecstasy, Screeching and twittering away in the sunshine, Squirrels scampering around finding their bread, Fantails and tailor birds, tweeting and roughaging around, The cuckoo calls out loud, though harsh and cackling, The crow caws aloud as he rests with his mate, Sparrows fighting and scampering in the mud, The magpie robin singing sweetly aloud, The berries now ripe and juicy, The birds and squirrels feasting in ecstasy, Butterflies fluttering around the flowers in the breeze; Sucking sweet nectar; basking in all glory, Wide varieties of them galore, It's quiet a sight to behold, Flowers in bloom, oh! so many, Red, yellow and purple; the hues too many, Green fresh leaves so soothing and calm, Adding to the freshness, beauty and charm, Children running around, in gay abandon, Carefree and joyful, living in t...

Song of a soul

Image
My soul is at unrest, It weeps and cries, It hasn't seen the rainbow in the sky. It longs to wander, Be free to fly, Away from the nest it has built by. It's stuck at home, With duties abound, With clockwork precision, From morn to dusk, Ticking and toiling, Without a moment to rest. It longs to wander, Be free to fly, Away from the nest it has built by. Just heave a sigh, Just go on a hike, Looking at nature, Abound all around by, To see its wondrous works, it's glory flaunting, And being a part of it's mesmerising grandeur, It longs to wander, Be free to fly, Away from the nest it has built by. Life is stuck in its mundane humdrum, Can't be escaped, Toiling to perfection. Will I be able to fly? As time ticks by, And days gone by. It longs to wander, Be free to fly, Away from the nest it has built by. Do we need a nest, To live and love, Can we be natures sweet living creature, Just carefree and at rest. Living under trees, With carpets of green grass beneath, a ...

As we walk

Image
I t’s fun to walk with friends as the sun sets, Together to weave the thread, Of the day that’s gone since, And the night that’s about to set.  Pleasantries exchanged, A lot is said, The mind is cleared of all muck held, A nod here, a silly grunt, peals of laughter over days musings, Gives ways to smiles that resets our head. Frustrations in animated styles, pours out from hearts, And fills oneself with clarity of thoughts. A friendly smile is all that’s needed to raise one’s spirit high, A gentle touch upon the arm will stop a heaving sigh.   Be it rain, sun or gloom, Or even if it’s going to be the near of doom, We are so much happy on our walk, Just spreading happiness as we march along!! With hope every day and head held high, We march to and fro’ on our paths set high!

The Gulmohar Tree

Image
The Gulmohar tree has come to life, It's gone scarlet, with specks of green and white, The flame of the forest, standing tall in all it's glory, Look and see; feel it now, For it will stay anew for but a month now; It's been toiling and working hard for this, All year round!!! The robins and barbets have embraced it's beauty, Flitting from branch-to-branch in all gaiety, Inviting the squirrels to dance and play, For its bright scarlet flowers have bloomed today!!! Butterflies galore; sucking sweet nectar, It's sweet satiety time; they sing and flutter, Going from bract-to-bract, Enjoying every moment, Totally lost in gay abandon, In its canopy of red, Flaunting and glowing, With its heart-ever-growing, And love enduring. Soon the rains will drown the city, The sounds of sweet chirping will be lost again; It will be all dark and gloomy, With great down-pour, All that can be heard will be the thunderous boom, It's branches will play with the howling winds, And t...

The Frangipani Tree

Image
I see the Frangipani tree; It's rooted well and smiles at me; It's boughs are spread, Curved and bend; It embraces all and one, Laughing away, And whistling aloud, Asking the birds and bees to come!!!! It stands tall and bears all weight, Heaving not a grumble nor a grunt, Silently waiting and watching, The seasons turn around one by one. It bears beautiful blossoms, Fragrances galore, Birds busy chirping, butterflies and bees buzzing, Sucking sweet nectar, Giving sweet bliss to one and all!! There was a time she stood barren, Not a leaf in sight, The tree trunk went dead, it's look forlorn, And passers by turned and left, With a grunt and a mourn they declared, It's the end, it's the end!! And as time passed by, It was soon forgotten. One sunny morn, With sweet calls, Birds started to jump,  Went chirping from stump to stump!! For it was a moment of pride, To see the tree spring back to life, And soon behold; The tree stood : tall and nice. Come and enjoy my swee...

Winter musings

Image
Misty winter morning   Y es it's winters in Mumbai. You may ask what's so special, but for us mumbaites it's so much so!  For people up North this winter may seem like pleasantly cool. But in Mumbai the scene may be different. You will find that people now have a reason to feel the wintery vibes : all the hoodies and mufflers are out, and so are the shawls. This may be the only week that this winter clothings can be displayed, flaunted and used.  For me its so special too. I now have the pink hoodie on in the evenings when I go to meet my friends. I would have loved the long walks with the sun on my skin but unfortunately for my toe. I do not want to delve into that topic again, rather let me say that my toe is now on the healing phase and move on. Walking on winter mornings is so much fun. Now that we have the cycle track built behind our home, it's an absolute delight. Always there is some surprise on store as we see nature in it's full glory. I can now spot some ...

Live

Image
When did we lose the thrill,  Of running down a hill. Letting the wind blow, As we lay down on the green grass, nice and slow! Allowing the radiant and majestic sun, To blow kisses, for some fun! To see the sparrow pick its grain, Chirping and fluttering its wings in the rain, Finding its mate, laying its eggs, Then watch its fledgings, Appear one by one again! Let's see the colourful blossoms on the tree, Whiffing its fragrance, And listen to the buzzing of the bees! With wind howling, rain pattering and sun shining through the roof, Lets see how the seasons change, through and through! When did we last skip and cry, Had peels of laughter and tears roll by, Smiling at strangers who pass by, A friendly wave, lending a helping hand. When is the last we whispered sweet nothings,  To our beloveds, by our sides! With the blue sky above and the brown mud beneath, Ain't it a dainty house we have built on mother earth today? So let's climb a hill, Then check back down, And wea...
